Coach Rick Brail will forever be known as the Founding Father of Tesoro High School Baseball. In 2001, he launched the program with a dirt field, lots of enthusiasm, and a vision. Coach Brail served as the Head Coach for 19 seasons before stepping down prior to the 2020 season.
Coach Brail led Tesoro to three league championships during his tenure. His 2004 team made a deep postseason run in the CIF Southern Section playoffs, culminating with the Division IV championship game, a 3-1 loss to Corona del Mar High School.
During his 25 years as an educator, Coach Brail has coached baseball, basketball, and football. He currently teaches US History, American Cultures-Accelerated, and American Government at Tesoro.
Rick played college baseball at the University of Arkansas, Saddleback College, and UC Davis. After graduating from UC Davis and earning a BA in Political Science, he attended CSU-San Bernardino and earned a Masters degree in Education.
Coach Brail currently resides in San Clemente with his wife Deonna and three kids; Riley, Trent, and Jordan. Along with baseball, Coach Brail enjoys surfing, fishing and messing around with his kids.
